Ever noticed how people, especially women, try unnaturally hard to not get old?
I guess it has been like this since the beginnings of time. And even the evolutionary theory (I talked about this theory before in column 2), says that men are more interested in young women because young women are still fertile. Fertile women give men a bigger probability to pass on their genetic material.
Nefertiti, Aphrodite, Bath Sheba, Cleopatra, Guinevere, Helen of Troy, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bordot, Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, Romy Schneider, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Catherine- Zeta Jones, are all women famous for their looks. They never seem to get old and unfortunately some of those women died young, so we never got the chance to see age catch up on them.
As I look around me I see a thousand and one things passing by that can help you resolve your age issues. They all help, stop, turn around and make sure you won’t get older, that time will stand still for your face and body. Thousand and one ways of tricking your fellow humans in thinking you are still a twenty-something girl being super fertile. However, time will catch up on those trying to run and hide from it. Ofcourse raw-food diets, bikram yoga, sauna’s, spa treatments, facials and gyms do help you stay in shape and stop the decay.
However, the biggest part of staying young and keeping fit settles somewhere closer to home…
Right here in between your ears, your own brain.
The way you think has such a big impact and influence on how we feel and therefore look. It is the wrinkle making machine! Many people do not know that wrinkles come and go. Most of our wrinkles are not permanent, but the more you will experience one specific emotion the more you will get certain wrinkles that will get deeper and deeper the more you feel this emotion. Here it is were a vicious cycle is kicking in, for research has shown that the way we set our face is the way we feel. So the more deeper the wrinkles become the more you will experience this emotion related to this wrinkle as well.
So…take a deep breath and relax your face for a moment. Breathing deep and letting your worries and emotions go is one of THE BIGGEST and best (and also cheapest) rejuvenation treatments there is. You can check it yourself if you don’t believe what I am writing here.
How many times during the day do you feel angry, frustrated, anxious, freighted, fearful, sad, ashamed, guilty, etc? Did you ever check how your face looks when you feel those emotions? How many times a week do you experience the same emotions? They give you a hell of a lot of the wrinkles you don’t want.
Try for a month to let these angry and frustrated thoughts for what they are and just relax and breath deeply when ever they arise. Try to remember to completely relax your face at least 7 times a day for at least 20 seconds. I guarantee you that you will not only look younger after one month, but you will also feel more relaxed and you will have more energy. So it will not only save you at least 5 spa treatments, but also less hassle with your boss, fights over nothing with your partner and a trip to your psychologist to try to get over your depression.
