The Big Questions such as ‘who am I’ and ‘what is reality’ have always interested me. After finishing high school they informed my choice for cultural anthropology, studying how people make sense out of their lives. A fascination with both cultural and individual patterns was fuelled by the many courses I was fortunate to take in philosophy and the field of gender- and religion studies.

After my time at the university, my search for meaning transformed into a steady yoga and meditation practice. Within Buddhist traditions I found the same Big Questions from my college years, such as ‘what is the root of happiness’ and ‘how can we know ourselves and our world’? The shift from a knowledge based approach in my study to a more experienced based approach in my dharma practice is giving me a practical vision on spirituality.

It’s this practical vision that became my path. I’m part of Generation Y, people currently in their twenties, to whom the new status is freedom and wisdom, in stead of money and success. I want to dissolve the boundaries between my spirituality and work, making between meditating and shopping. In a time where technology is making the world a smaller place, the illusion of separateness and duality, ‘us’ and ‘them’, is under pressure, with all kinds of consequences. As part of generation Y, I feel that I have to deal with this one way or another.

I believe that the way to change the world is coming from within, by dissolving the boundaries within ourselves and to our world. Those boundaries, created to protect us from suffering, ironically are the only thing that prevent us from living wholesome.

Breaking down the barriers of course, can be done in different ways. For me it is writing, telling, learning and spreading. Potential Buddha is a manifestation of that intention. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to follow my dream. Whatever I will do, it will always revolve around the same question: how can I live a real, and meaningful life?
